A traffic accident in Colombia claimed the life of 26-year-old missionary Valentina Peralta on Monday. Peralta was driving a motorcycle to a children’s ministry event when a truck struck the vehicle, killing her and injuring her passenger.
She served alongside her husband Daniel Escobar on a church-planting team in Santa Marta. The couple has a two-year-old son and is native to the historic port city on the Caribbean Sea.
“We are all devastated by this loss,” said workers with Great Cities Missions. “Valentina was a bright light in the community. She and her husband … spent their time in the field faithfully loving and serving the people of Santa Marta.”
The couple graduated from Baxter Institute in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where they prepared for ministry across the Spanish-speaking world. Peralta was set to serve as a teacher at a new Christian school the mission team plans to launch in Santa Marta.
Gaby Medrano, a friend from Baxter Institute, recalled Peralta’s energy and love for her family. “I will always remember Vale for her energy, her love for her family, her joy that she would pass on to others,” Medrano said.
Medrano also remembered Peralta’s humor and the love of Christ that united them. “She knew how to be family,” Medrano wrote in a social media tribute.
Church members held a memorial service for Peralta in Colombia on Wednesday. Believers across Latin America continue to mourn the loss of a young woman remembered for her faithful service and deep love for Christ.

Georgia Pastor Faces Backlash Over Muslim Comments at Polling Church
Faith Facts
- The pastor leads a church that also serves as an official polling location in Georgia.
- His social media posts described Islam as evil and drew immediate criticism from civil rights groups.
- The controversy centers on whether such statements threaten the voting rights of a religious community.
A Georgia pastor is under fire for social media remarks that labeled Muslims evil. His church also functions as an active polling place.
The comments quickly drew condemnation from civil rights advocates. They argued the statements could invite harassment and might intimidate Muslim voters at the site.
“We are concerned that these kinds of inflammatory statements create a hostile environment for voters,” said a representative from a local civil rights organization.
The pastor has not retracted his remarks. He maintains they reflect his biblical convictions rather than any call to violence.
Election officials have not moved the polling location. They say the church meets all state requirements to serve as a voting site.
“Our duty is to ensure every eligible voter can cast a ballot safely and without intimidation,” stated a county elections spokesperson.
Local church members have rallied behind their pastor. They view the criticism as an attempt to silence biblical truth in the public square.
The episode highlights ongoing tension between religious liberty and public accommodation rules at polling places.

Evangelical Leader Warns GOP Defeat May Signal Divine Judgment on America
Faith Facts
- Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, stated that the Republican electoral loss could be divine chastisement.
- Perkins linked the defeat to the nation’s continued embrace of abortion.
- The remarks were given to The Christian Post as a call for moral reflection among conservative leaders.
Tony Perkins, president of the Washington-based Christian conservative advocacy organization Family Research Council, told The Christian Post that the Republican electoral wipeout on Tuesday could be divine chastisement against a nation that increasingly aborts its own children.
“The Republican electoral wipeout on Tuesday could be divine chastisement against a nation that increasingly aborts its own children.”
The Republican Party stripped a lot of its core values from its platform. We have to acknowledge that abortion rates in this country have gone up by over 20% because of policies that are kept in place by the Trump administration. I don’t think God honors that. Part of these election results may be a chastisement upon a Party that became complacent on moral and value issues. Michele Bachmann: “Right.”

Ohio Pastor Claims Polygamy Biblical
Faith Facts
- Scripture consistently affirms one man and one woman as God’s design for marriage.
- Polygamy appears in the Bible but is never endorsed by God.
- Church leaders are called to model faithfulness in the home.
A pastor in Ohio has drawn national attention after presenting his second wife to his congregation and declaring that monogamy is unbiblical.
Peter Lynas of the Evangelical Alliance responded that while Scripture records instances of polygamy, it never approves of the practice.
“The Bible contains polygamy but never condones it.”
From the opening chapters of Genesis, God establishes marriage as the union of one man and one woman, a pattern confirmed by Jesus in the Gospels.
Church elders are instructed in the New Testament to be the husband of one wife, underscoring God’s standard for spiritual leadership.
“Scripture consistently affirms one man and one woman as God’s design for marriage.”
Advocates for traditional marriage note that attempts to redefine biblical standards often lead congregations away from sound doctrine.
Believers are encouraged to hold fast to the plain teaching of Scripture amid growing cultural pressure.
