Uphold Law Without Sacrificing Human Dignity

Christians have always valued upholding the law, but this commitment must never override our call to defend human dignity as commanded in Scripture. Reports of ICE’s recent actions—including the deaths of two citizens and widespread accounts of mistreatment—deeply concern the faith community and cannot be ignored.
“You must not mistreat or oppress foreigners in any way. Remember, you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 22:21)
Bipartisan voices, including leaders like Chris Madel and Senator Rand Paul, have publicly condemned these aggressive tactics, echoing the outcry of local law enforcement and thousands of ordinary citizens. Such a broad response shows the importance of holding government accountable to laws and moral principles.
The principle of loving our neighbor is central to the Christian life. Faith-based refugee organizations, like World Relief, have pleaded for compassion and justice for those targeted. We cannot compromise on our beliefs in the dignity of every human being, nor allow inhumane treatment to become the status quo.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God,” 1 Corinthians 10:31 reminds us.
Churches and ministries are already exploring ways to use AI for translation, accessibility, and discipleship resources. These efforts must stay anchored in sound doctrine and prayerful discernment.
At the same time, Christians are right to raise concerns about privacy, truth, and the temptation to place ultimate trust in machines rather than in the Lord.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding,” Proverbs 3:5 declares.
Ultimately, the future belongs to the One who created all things, not to any algorithm or invention of man. AI will never have the final word over humanity.
