Updated Christian Course Welcomes South Asians
Faith Facts
- The Evangelical Alliance has released updated resources to present the gospel to people of South Asian heritage.
- “Discovering Jesus” is designed for seekers from Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, or Muslim backgrounds, tackling common questions about faith and identity.
- The eight-week course encourages open discussion and invites participants to engage with Jesus Christ’s life and message.
The Evangelical Alliance’s new resources aim to make the Christian message accessible to South Asian communities, emphasizing understanding and cultural respect.
The course seeks to address doubts about whether Christianity welcomes believers from every background.
Rani Joshi explained,
“As a young South Asian girl, I wasn’t sure the Christian faith included someone who looked like me.”
“That’s why Discovering Jesus feels so timely, as we explore faith, identity and culture. As I prayed about this project, I sensed God whisper, ‘invite them to the wedding banquet’ (Revelation 19:9). This isn’t just another resource, it’s an invitation for those of Asian heritage to answer the question Jesus asks, ‘Who do you say I am?'”
The course uses apologetics to answer concerns, such as the idea that Christianity is only a Western faith. Through respectful dialogue, it offers a welcoming environment to seek God’s truth and grace rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Gavin Calver affirmed his hopes for these resources:
“I am so excited about the launch of Discovering Jesus and am praying for this course to have a huge impact in the days ahead. It is so timely and shares the gospel message in a really accessible, helpful and powerful way.”
This program demonstrates a commitment to the Great Commission, living out biblical hospitality and inviting all cultures to experience the transformative love of Christ.
Faith communities are encouraged to pray for and share this resource, supporting outreach efforts to new believers.
