For believers across Ukraine, faith drives perseverance and hope amidst suffering. Oleksandra’s story reveals how faith, family, and a supportive Christian community are anchors in the storms of life.
She endured unimaginable pain and loss when her husband and daughter lost their lives in a missile blast near Kyiv. Though her body and spirit were tested, Oleksandra clung to God for strength to begin again.
“It was like learning to live all over again,” she said. “I don’t know where the will came from. I just had this desire to move.”
Her journey through grief highlighted the importance of not facing pain alone. Her loved ones stood by her, and prayer became her comfort. Faithful conversations with God gave her the courage to look toward the future.
“Friends’ support is great,” she said, “but a huge part of this process is my conversations with God. I tell him I do not want to live inside these emotions. They steal my strength and take away my focus on the future.”
Even while Ukraine’s churches and religious leaders endure attacks, Oleksandra continues to minister to young people, encouraging the next generation with the truth and love of Christ.
Russian aggression includes a campaign to use faith as a tool for control, destroying places of worship and persecuting Christian leaders in occupied territories.
“The only place in Ukraine where there is systemic religious persecution is where Russia controls the ground.”
As Igor Bandura, a Baptist leader, emphasizes, religious freedom in Ukraine is threatened wherever the enemy advances. Faith-filled Ukrainians stand firm, declaring the true purpose of their nation as a beacon of compassion, unity, and godliness.
The church in Ukraine rises under persecution, shining the light of Christ and championing liberty for all. Stand with our brothers and sisters in faith—pray for protection over Ukraine’s faithful and for revival amidst turmoil.
