Ugandan Teen Killed After Embracing Christ
Faith Facts
- Shafiki Wasike, age 19, was killed in Mbale City, Uganda after converting to Christianity.
- His brother, Akram Kairoki, is accused of the fatal stabbing and was arrested days later.
- Family and clan members refused to participate in Wasike’s burial, citing his Christian faith.
Shafiki Wasike gave his life to Christ after an evangelistic outreach on August 31, 2025, but faced immediate hostility from his family.
He was fatally injured by his own brother while on the way to school, after receiving threats for his decision to follow Jesus.
“It is only changing my faith and joining the Christian faith,” Wasike said, wounded before passing.
Pastor David Wabomba, who guided Wasike in his newfound faith, led the funeral service amid continued rejection from Muslim relatives.
Uganda’s laws protect religious freedom, yet Christians in some regions face grave risks for their faith decisions.
Let us lift up persecuted believers worldwide and pray for unwavering courage to stand for Christ, even in adversity.
