President Donald Trump announced that the United States would oversee Venezuela following the capture of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores.
Trump described the raid as a display of unmatched American strength that safeguarded all U.S. personnel and assets.
“I want to thank the men and women of our military who achieved such an extraordinary success overnight with breathtaking power, precision and competence; you rarely see anything like it,” Trump said.
He claimed the mission had effectively stemmed 97% of sea-borne drug trafficking from Venezuela and pledged a transition rooted in safety and justice.
National leaders, standing with Trump, praised the flawless joint raid and warned adversaries of America’s resolve to defend freedom and security.
“Nicolás Maduro had his chance, just like Iran had their chance until they didn’t, and until he didn’t,” Hegseth said. “He effed around and he found out.”
Secretary Marco Rubio called Maduro a fugitive from justice, affirming that decisive American action would deter future threats.
Rubio also stated, “When he tells you that he’s going to do something, when tells you he’s going to address a problem, he means it. He actions it.”
