Trump Administration Targets Title X Funding Compliance

In a bold move that underscores the Trump administration’s commitment to safeguarding American values and taxpayer dollars, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is currently reviewing over $27 million in Title X federal family-planning grants. This review aims to ensure that recipients, including Planned Parenthood, adhere strictly to federal law and executive orders.

“HHS is concerned about the compliance of several awardees impacting $27.5 million in continuation awards,” an official confirmed, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to ensuring that “all recipients of federal funding comply with federal law.”

This initiative is part of a broader effort by President Trump to eliminate unnecessary taxpayer funding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, which often stray from traditional American values. A White House spokesperson highlighted this commitment, stating, “The Administration supports the proper stewardship and prioritization of taxpayer dollars and will work to ensure all federal grantees are compliant with federal laws prohibiting discrimination.”

While no final decisions have been made regarding Planned Parenthood’s funding, the potential freeze has sparked a renewed focus on the organization’s practices. Pro-life advocate Abby Johnson, who once worked for Planned Parenthood, expressed confidence that evidence of DEI practices would be easy to find, stating, “It’s practically one of their creeds, so stripping that money away should be a small, easy win on behalf of taxpayers.”

Johnson further applauded the administration’s efforts, asserting, “I certainly applaud the Trump administration for removing any taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, which we should never fund in any capacity. Women deserve so much better than Planned Parenthood and abortion.”

Kristen Waggoner, President and CEO of Alliance Defending Freedom, echoed these sentiments, describing the potential funding freeze as “common sense.” She emphasized that Planned Parenthood, as a “multi-billion dollar abortion business,” should not have an “unqualified right to receive government funds to push its radical agenda.”

The prospect of defunding Planned Parenthood has gained momentum following Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, with calls for a complete defunding of the organization growing louder. A coalition of 150 pro-life organizations has urged Congress to defund Planned Parenthood in an upcoming reconciliation bill.

This bill, which requires only a simple majority to pass the Senate, stands a strong chance of success given the Republican control of both the House and Senate. The coalition’s letter to Congress highlights not only the financial waste but also the unsanitary and unsafe conditions documented at Planned Parenthood clinics as reasons for defunding.

Planned Parenthood’s response to these developments has been dismissive, labeling the potential funding freeze as “shameful but unsurprising.” However, as the Trump administration continues to prioritize faith, family, and freedom, the move to reevaluate and potentially redirect taxpayer dollars away from organizations that do not align with these values is a step in the right direction for America.
