Tony Evans Returns, Urges Kingdom Impact

After stepping away from pastoral leadership because of a past moral failure, Pastor Tony Evans has returned to share biblical wisdom with the faith community.
Speaking to Christian conservatives in Iowa, Evans reminded listeners that the Church must inspire and lead every area of life by upholding God’s standards.
“God’s not going to skip the church house to fix the White House. It will be the job of the Church of Jesus Christ to birth a generation of followers of Christ who progressively grow to representing Christ in the statehouse, in the White House, in the schoolhouse and in the culture who aren’t dumbed down by the culture but who are impactful for the culture,” he said.
He used the example of movie previews, describing believers as previews of God’s coming Kingdom, meant to draw others to Christ by their example.
“My brothers and sisters, one day, there’s a big show coming to town. God is the producer, the Holy Spirit is the director, Jesus is the superstar, and it will be a worldwide production. It’s called the Kingdom of God,” he said.
Evans candidly acknowledged his past, stating his commitment to biblical repentance and the importance of accountability before church leadership and family.
“The foundation of our ministry has always been our commitment to the Word of God as the absolute supreme standard of truth to which we are to conform our lives. When we fall short of that standard due to sin, we are required to repent and restore our relationship with God,” Evans said in his confession.
Bob Vander Plaats, leader of The FAMiLY Leader, praised Evans for guiding the church to engage government not for partisan gain but to advance God’s kingdom and serve communities with biblical compassion.
“He’s a guy who has embraced this model of leadership of inspiring the Church to engage government, not for the advancement of a party but for the advancement of God’s kingdom and the blessing of people,” he said.

As believers, we understand that standing firm for Christ has always invited persecution. The Watch List identifies sources such as religious nationalism, clan oppression, and organized corruption — highlighting that opposition comes from many directions, not just a single worldview.
Including ‘Islamic oppression’ in the list does not label all Muslims as oppressors, just as ‘Christian denominational protectionism’ does not reflect every Christian group. The Bible calls us to truth while praying for those who face hostility for righteousness’ sake.
It is important to recognize that the difficulties Christians experience are real and well-documented, even though Christianity is the largest global faith. Our response should be marked by prayer, advocacy, and a commitment to uphold religious liberty for all, guided by God’s Word.
