St. Andrew’s Chapel Votes to Exit PCA

- St. Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Florida, founded by late theologian R.C. Sproul, has voted to leave the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) after joining in 2023.
- The decision passed overwhelmingly, with 669 in favor and 108 against, officially dissolving its connection with the Central Florida Presbytery.

One of the largest congregations in the PCA, St. Andrew’s Chapel, made this move following a congregational meeting in compliance with church order.
“On December 14, 2025, Saint Andrew’s Chapel held a congregational meeting in accordance with BCO 25-2 and 25-11 to decide whether to withdraw from the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA),” the elders stated.
The elders thanked those who supported them within the denomination and emphasized their intent to maintain the peace and purity of the Church as they continue their Gospel mission.
“We trust Jesus Christ, as King and Head of the church, to guide, lead, and protect His flock as we live each day coram Deo [before the face of God],” they added.
The church’s departure came after significant challenges within the presbytery and the suspension of Senior Pastor Rev. Burk Parsons earlier this year.
Moving forward, the congregation plans to remain independent, seeking accountability and encouragement in line with the Westminster Standards and open cooperation with other confessional Reformed bodies.
