Faith Facts

- The chaplaincy honors those lost at sea, especially victims of the Piper Alpha disaster, through books of remembrance and annual memorials.
Scottish parliamentarians have formally recognized the invaluable support offered by offshore industry chaplains, spotlighting their role in caring for oil and gas workers.
This chaplaincy extends vital pastoral, emotional, and spiritual care, reflecting Christ’s call to support those facing hardship and danger in their daily labor.
“We have the real privilege to respond to families, friends and colleagues on the worst of days. We can only hope that through our presence alongside those enduring grief, pain, stress and challenge that we can bring some comfort and peace,” Rev Michael Mair shared.
“The quiet work of our hardship committee, who assist workers when life has become incredibly challenging, is a key safety net offering a lifeline to many. This motion acknowledges the team effort undertaken by the administrator, chaplain and by all our trustees.”
Let us continue to lift these chaplains and the workers they serve in prayer, honoring their devotion and steadfast compassion as they bear witness to God’s love in Scotland’s offshore communities.
