Faith Facts

  • Mariam Ibrahim, a Christian mother in Sudan, was sentenced to death for her faith and later found safety in the U.S. in 2014.
  • President Donald Trump stated at the National Prayer Breakfast that he played a significant role in her release through a phone call.
  • Officials and advocates from the time do not recall his involvement, though prayers and global Christian advocacy were crucial.

Mariam Ibrahim’s courage inspired Christians nationwide when she stood firm in her faith despite facing a death sentence for apostasy in Sudan.

President Trump recently shared at the National Prayer Breakfast that he helped secure her release, emphasizing the power of faithful action and international Christian solidarity.

“Believers all over the planet rallied to Mariam’s cause, prayed for her protection, and successfully pressured for her release,” Trump affirmed during his address.

Ibrahim’s story is one of endurance and trust in God, surviving abuse in prison and refusing to deny Christ, supported by the prayers and advocacy of thousands.

Though some leaders cast doubt on Trump’s part, the victory belongs to those who let their faith shine in the face of oppression and to all who lifted up Mariam in prayer.

Our responsibility as believers is to remember the persecuted, defend religious liberty, and rely on the unshakable hope found in Christ Jesus.

Stay faithful and informed—stand for truth and freedom wherever God calls you.
