Prayer and Response After Caracas Strikes
Faith Facts
- The United States conducted a military operation in Caracas, resulting in the arrest of Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
- Evangelical leaders in Venezuela called for peace, prayer, and reliance on God’s sovereignty in response to the operation.
- Faith leaders in Colombia and Venezuelan exiles emphasized God’s justice, national restoration, and ongoing spiritual vigilance.
On January 3, 2026, a fire and explosions erupted at Venezuela’s largest military complex in Caracas after a U.S.-led military strike. President Donald Trump confirmed the operation, which was described as the culmination of months of preparation that ultimately led to the capture of socialist leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
Trump praised the mission’s success, announcing that both Maduro and his wife were safely removed from Venezuela. The regime in Caracas swiftly condemned the action as aggression.
The Evangelical Council of Venezuela expressed deep concern for the nation’s people and called for unity in prayer over the uncertain times.
“We extend our prayer and solidarity to all brothers and fellow citizens who are going through moments of uncertainty or fear,” the Evangelical Council of Venezuela said. “We reaffirm our confidence in the sovereignty of God, who reigns over the nations and guides history according to his eternal purpose.”
Christian leaders abroad, including Pastor Carlos Vielma and Aristóteles López, described these events as acts of divine justice and encouraged the faithful to continue in steadfast prayer.
López cautioned that spiritual battles remain and called on the church to live faithfully and courageously in the aftermath of upheaval.
From Colombia, the Evangelical Confederation urged its members to pray for God’s control, wisdom, and peace over Venezuela.
“CEDECOL calls upon all churches and believers to unite in prayer so that God may take control of the nation, bring freedom, peace, justice, and restoration to His people. We believe in a sovereign God who rules over the nations and who hears the cry of those who pray in faith.”
As Venezuela faces a turning point, Christians across the region are joining together to seek God’s guidance and deliverance for the nation and its people. In times of trial, faith, prayer, and unity remain our strongest foundation against fear and uncertainty.
