Police Criticized After Activist Attacked at Rally
Faith Facts
- Chris Elston, a Canadian advocate for Biblical values regarding gender, was assaulted at a London rally while standing for truth about children and gender ideology.
- The police hesitated to take immediate action after witnessing the attack, prompting concerns about the upholding of justice and protection for peaceful witnesses.
- Elston expressed disappointment, highlighting the need for the Church to speak boldly for Biblical truth, even under pressure.
Christian activist Chris Elston was attacked with a tub of ice cream while peacefully making a stand for protecting children from harmful ideologies at a rally in London. Despite clear video evidence and his immediate request for help, police officers were slow to act, raising concerns about their willingness to defend those who stand for Christian principles.
After police failed to seek out the assailant, Elston searched for the individual himself, further demonstrating courage in the face of hostility. In the midst of angry crowds, police eventually intervened to remove him for his safety, which he acknowledged was necessary given the situation.
“I was assaulted in London today with a tub of ice cream smacked on top of my head. Police officer after police officer refused to do anything. He should have been arrested in seconds. All [they] wanted to do was take down my personal details. I’ve dealt with police more than 300 times and I knew within seconds they weren’t going to do a thing about it.”
“They said a few times they would go find him with me after I gave my details and showed them the video evidence, but of course that was a lie, so I went to go find him myself. I was then surrounded by an angry mob demanding I condemn Israel.”
“Naturally, police removed me. That whole scene would have been avoided if they did their job and arrested the ice cream perp. Just another day telling the truth in a world gone mad.”
Elston later challenged Christian leaders to be brave and defend the truth of the Gospel, reminding believers to follow Christ’s example of boldness and unwavering conviction. As the world tests our witness, let us stand firm and refuse to compromise on Biblical truths for the sake of comfort or acceptance.
Now more than ever, faithful Christians are called to defend truth, uplift goodness, and pray for our leaders to act justly. May we be courageous witnesses in a culture desperate for the light and love of Jesus Christ.
