  • Bethany Hutchison and colleagues faced pressure for upholding biological reality in the workplace.
  • The Christian Legal Centre provided crucial legal support throughout their ordeal.
  • A tribunal confirmed their right to a safe and dignified environment, affirming UK law.

Bethany Hutchison, leading the Darlington Nursing Union, shared her experience defending women’s dignity at the She Leads the Nations Global Summit in Washington DC. She met with US politicians to highlight their struggle for freedom and truth in the UK.

In her speech, she addressed the foundational truth that men and women are distinct, noting its increasing controversy in today’s society.

Hutchison described the challenges within the NHS, which, she said, often put ideology above biological truths and women’s safety.

“Everything began when a biological male employee, identifying as a woman, was, without warning or consultation, granted access to the female changing room … the private place where women undress, store their belongings, and prepare for long shifts.”

She testified that some staff suffered trauma, including panic attacks recalling earlier abuses, after sharing changing spaces with a biological male.

Leadership pressured the nurses to accept the situation in the name of inclusivity, offering only unsuitable alternatives for their privacy and safety.

Supported by the Christian Legal Centre, the nurses pursued justice and, in January, won their legal case.

“The tribunal ruled in our favour … They confirmed that the NHS Trust had broken UK law by forcing women to share a changing room with a male colleague.”

Hutchison emphasized this victory was not only for British women but for truth and common sense everywhere.

“This is not a British problem. It is a Western problem. It is a cultural problem. It is a truth problem.”

Andrea Williams, CEO of the Christian Legal Centre, also spoke at the event, warning that Christian foundations in law and freedom are under threat as believers face increasing sanctions for expressing faith-based views.

Standing for God-given design and upholding the dignity of women is a call rooted in biblical truth. Let us pray for courage and wisdom as believers defend faith, family, and freedom in societies worldwide.
