  • No one has been found guilty for the 2023 anti-Christian attacks in Jaranwala, Pakistan.
  • Over 5,200 people were accused, and more than 380 were arrested, but all have either been acquitted or released on bail.
  • Only Christians have faced convictions related to these events, despite widespread destruction of churches and homes.

Persecution against Christians in Pakistan remains severe, with justice eluding victims of the horrific August 2023 attacks in Jaranwala. Despite extensive property damage and widespread suffering, authorities have not convicted a single perpetrator for these crimes.

Bishop Indrias Rehmat of Faisalabad voiced his frustration, observing that police have failed to uphold justice and protect the Christian community.

“Justice has not been done. The police have not done their duty. Nobody has been punished and nobody has been dealt with properly. At this stage, we do not see any hope of any culprit being punished.”

Instead, Christian believers themselves have been sentenced, illustrating the double standard that persists. This injustice has fueled a resolve among many faithful to boldly stand up for their religious freedom and demand equal treatment under the law.

While the 2023 Jaranwala violence stands out for its scale and coordination, it tragically joins a long list of targeted attacks against Pakistani Christians. Previous incidents, like the 2009 Gojra riots and the 2013 church bombing in Peshawar, testify to their ongoing struggle for safety and dignity.

Let us continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Pakistan, seeking justice, courage, and restoration for these families of faith. Stay informed and raise your voice for religious liberty worldwide.
