Nicki Minaj Shares Renewed Walk With God
Faith Facts
- Nicki Minaj recently reopened her heart to God and now boldly advocates for persecuted Christians globally.
- Sustaining her Christian faith was challenging as her music career grew, yet she continues to draw strength from prayer and God’s Word.
- She encourages America to cherish religious liberty and urges Christians not to be silent about faith, especially where persecution is severe.
Nicki Minaj, at AmericaFest in Phoenix, discussed her return to faith and how her upbringing taught her to seek God through prayer, even as a young girl in Trinidad and later in New York.
She recounted being baptized at 13 and how, despite the pressures of fame, she strives to live according to biblical teachings, recognizing the difficulties the music industry presents for spiritual growth.
She said.
“Sometimes, I would wake up and feel so far removed from … fellowship.”
Feeling drawn back to her faith, Minaj likened her renewed relationship with God to reconnecting with a long-lost friend.
She now finds comfort in constant prayer and reliance on the Lord.
“You don’t have to leave a message. He’s not going to call you back.”
“He’s there immediately for you. Call on Him, and on the first ring, He’s going to answer.”
She has become a strong voice for Christians facing persecution, particularly in Nigeria, and emphasized the importance of protecting religious freedom and standing firm for Christian values.
“We are not going to be silenced by the bullies anymore. OK?”
The ongoing violence against believers in Nigeria has prompted international concern, with watchdog groups naming it one of the most dangerous places for Christians.
Recent U.S. policy aims to confront these human rights violations.
Minaj’s outspoken advocacy and faith-filled message call Christians in America to be grateful for liberty and to support brothers and sisters in Christ facing hardship.
Let us continue to embrace the freedoms blessed upon our nation, raise our voices for the persecuted, and encourage our youth to lean on the Lord in every season of life.
