HHS Targets Harmful Transgender Procedures for Minors
Faith Facts
- Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced new HHS steps to protect children from “sex-rejecting” procedures.
- New rules would prevent hospitals in Medicare and Medicaid from offering transgender surgeries to minors.
- Detransitioner Chloe Cole testified on the profound harm caused by such interventions in her youth.
Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. declared that gender-transition procedures on minors are not responsible medicine, but a threat to children’s health and innocence.
The proposed rules would prohibit federally funded hospitals from performing these irreversible interventions on children, aligning healthcare standards with biblical values.
“So-called ‘gender-affirming care’ has inflicted lasting physical and psychological damage on vulnerable young people.”
Kennedy stated during the press conference.
The announcement was supported by leaders including HHS Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill, CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz, FDA Commissioner Martin Makary, NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya, and advocate Chloe Cole.
Kennedy emphasized that such medical interventions risk permanent harm, including infertility and changes to healthy development.
Dr. Oz highlighted that medicine should not be influenced by a politicized agenda and condemned the use of children as experimental subjects.
He urged clinicians to pursue the least invasive approach for those struggling with gender dysphoria and warned against financial motives overtaking ethical care.
“The moral test of government is how that government treats those in the dawn of life, the children; those in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”
Dr. Oz quoted former Vice President Humphrey.
Chloe Cole offered powerful testimony, sharing the deep emotional and physical scars left by these medical practices.
She called out the betrayal by adults and physicians who, she said, failed to honor God’s design and failed in their sacred duty to protect children.
