Fred Luter Jr., the esteemed leader of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, has announced his retirement, expressing gratitude for God’s steadfast guidance over nearly four decades.

Luter urged the congregation to support his son, continuing a legacy of faith, strong family values, and servant leadership rooted in Biblical principles.

“Who would have thought … that a young street preacher from the Lower Ninth Ward would be elected by the 65 members of the Franklin Avenue Baptist Church back in September of 1986 as pastor and then that young preacher who had never pastored before will lead Franklin Avenue to be the largest church in the city of New Orleans and one of the largest churches in the state of Louisiana,”

Luter recalled.

He reflected on the powerful impact of the church’s ministry, counting thousands led to salvation in Christ and honoring God’s faithfulness through tremendous trials.

Luter, once elected the Southern Baptist Convention’s first and only black president, was commended for rebuilding the church twice against significant odds and for expanding its ministry despite obstacles.

He announced a special meeting to officially vote for Chip Luter as the congregation’s future shepherd, affirming that he has been blessed to serve God’s people all these years.

“Words are not adequate to express how much I love and appreciate each and every last one of you.”

“It has been my honor to serve as your pastor for 39 years.”

“To God be the glory for the things that he has done.”

The story of Pastor Luter embodies the strength of faith and the hope found in Jesus Christ.

It reminds us that with God, our families, and our freedoms can endure and flourish.

Vermont School Receives Settlement After Religious Rights Violated Over Athletic Policy

Published

on

Faith Facts

  • Mid Vermont Christian School received a $566,000 settlement after being banned from state athletic events for refusing to allow their girls’ basketball team to compete against a biological male player
  • The school withdrew from a 2023 tournament when officials required them to face a team with a transgender athlete, citing religious convictions about biological sex
  • Alliance Defending Freedom represented the school, arguing Vermont officials violated constitutional protections of religious exercise and free association

A Vermont Christian school that stood firm on biblical principles regarding biological sex has secured a significant legal victory. Mid Vermont Christian School will receive $566,000 after state officials punished the institution for declining to participate in athletic competitions featuring male athletes on girls’ teams.

The controversy began when the school’s girls’ basketball team faced a choice between competing against a biological male or honoring their faith-based convictions. School leadership chose principle over participation, withdrawing from the state tournament in 2023.

State athletic officials responded by banning the school from future competitions. That decision sparked a federal lawsuit, with Alliance Defending Freedom stepping in to defend the school’s constitutional rights.

The settlement represents more than financial compensation—it’s a recognition that religious schools cannot be coerced into violating deeply held beliefs about human biology and biblical teaching. For families who choose faith-based education, this outcome affirms their right to maintain standards consistent with Scripture.

Vermont’s actions against Mid Vermont Christian School mirror a broader pattern across the nation, where traditional Christian values increasingly face institutional opposition. Schools that teach biological reality and biblical truth about male and female are often targeted for exclusion from public programs and partnerships.

The case underscores fundamental questions about religious liberty in American public life. Can government entities punish religious institutions for maintaining theological positions on human sexuality and gender? This settlement suggests the answer is no.

Alliance Defending Freedom has represented numerous religious schools and organizations facing similar conflicts between government mandates and religious conscience. Their involvement proved crucial in securing this favorable outcome for the Vermont school.

For Christian families, the implications extend beyond athletics. The settlement reinforces that faith-based institutions retain constitutional protections even when their beliefs conflict with prevailing cultural trends regarding gender ideology.

The $566,000 award compensates the school for legal costs and damages resulting from the ban. More importantly, it sends a message to other states considering similar punitive measures against religious schools.

This resolution arrives as debate intensifies nationwide over fairness in women’s sports and the rights of biological males who identify as female to compete against girls. Many states have enacted legislation protecting female athletics, while others have taken Vermont’s approach of forcing participation.

Mid Vermont Christian School’s stand demonstrates that conviction carries consequences—but also that constitutional protections remain available to those willing to defend their faith. The school prioritized biblical truth over athletic competition and ultimately prevailed.

The case also highlights the importance of legal organizations dedicated to defending religious freedom. Without Alliance Defending Freedom’s expertise and resources, schools like Mid Vermont Christian might lack the means to challenge government overreach.

As cultural pressure mounts on Christian institutions to conform to gender ideology, this settlement provides encouragement. Standing firm on biblical teaching about male and female, even at significant cost, can ultimately be vindicated through the legal system.

Millions Join Nationwide Scripture Marathon as Revival Spirit Sweeps America

Faith Facts

  • Millions of Americans participated in a nationwide Bible reading marathon called “America Reads the Bible” organized by faith leaders responding to cultural chaos
  • Organizer Bunni Pounds reports the event’s central message emerged as “the Bible is enough” to address America’s spiritual crisis
  • The grassroots movement comes as the nation faces rising violence, moral confusion, and a renewed hunger for biblical truth

In a powerful demonstration of faith amid national turmoil, millions of Americans have joined together in a remarkable Scripture reading marathon that organizers say has ignited revival across the country. The “America Reads the Bible” initiative brought believers together in an unprecedented show of unity around God’s Word.

Bunni Pounds, a key organizer behind the America 250 faith initiative, shared the profound impact of the event during a time when the nation faces mounting challenges. According to Pounds, one clear message emerged from the marathon: the Bible alone provides the answers America desperately needs.

The nationwide event comes at a critical moment in American history, as communities grapple with escalating violence, moral relativism, and a deepening spiritual void. Rather than looking to political solutions or cultural movements, millions of Christians turned to the eternal truths of Scripture.

“The Bible is enough,” Pounds emphasized, capturing the heart of what participants discovered through the marathon reading. This simple yet profound truth resonated with believers who watched and participated from coast to coast.

The grassroots nature of the event demonstrates a growing hunger among ordinary Americans for biblical truth and spiritual renewal. As institutional trust continues to erode and secular ideologies fail to provide meaning, Christians are rediscovering the sufficiency of God’s Word to guide the nation.

The timing of “America Reads the Bible” is particularly significant as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary. Faith leaders like Pounds see this as a kairos moment—a divine opportunity for America to return to the biblical foundations that shaped the nation’s founding.

The overwhelming response to the Scripture marathon reveals that despite cultural pressures and increasing hostility toward Christianity, there remains a vast remnant of believers committed to God’s Word. The event provided encouragement to Christians who often feel isolated in their faith.

By bringing millions together around continuous Scripture reading, the initiative created a powerful counter-narrative to the chaos dominating headlines. Participants found hope, clarity, and strength in hearing God’s Word proclaimed without interruption or commentary.

The success of “America Reads the Bible” also highlights the power of simple obedience. Rather than elaborate programs or entertainment-driven events, the organizers trusted that Scripture itself would speak to hearts and transform lives.

As the movement continues to generate momentum, many are calling it evidence of the Holy Spirit moving across America. The revival spirit that emerged from the marathon suggests that God is not finished with this nation, and that faithful remnant willing to stand on His Word can still make a difference.

BBC Journalist Wins Major Lawsuit After Party Rejects Him Over Christian Faith

Published

Faith Facts

  • The UK Liberal Democrat party agreed to pay former BBC journalist David Campanale at least £250,000 ($337,250) in damages for religious discrimination.
  • Campanale was blocked from becoming a political candidate solely because of his biblical Christian beliefs on marriage and family.
  • The settlement represents a significant legal victory for religious freedom in Britain’s increasingly secular political landscape.

A former BBC journalist has secured a substantial legal settlement after being discriminated against for his Christian beliefs by a major political party in the United Kingdom. David Campanale received at least £250,000 ($337,250) from the Liberal Democrat party this month, marking a significant victory for religious freedom advocates.

The case centered on the party’s refusal to allow Campanale to become a political candidate due to his biblical views on marriage and family. The Liberal Democrats’ decision to block his candidacy based solely on his Christian convictions violated UK discrimination laws, leading to the settlement.

This outcome highlights the ongoing tension between traditional Christian values and secular political institutions in Britain. Religious liberty organizations have praised the settlement as an important precedent, affirming that Christians cannot be excluded from public life simply for holding biblical beliefs.

The substantial damages award sends a clear message that political parties cannot discriminate against candidates on the basis of their faith. For Christian conservatives in America, this case serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting religious freedom in all spheres of society, including politics.

The settlement comes at a time when Christians across the Western world increasingly face pressure to compromise their beliefs to participate in public life. Campanale’s willingness to stand firm on his convictions, despite career consequences, demonstrates the courage required to defend religious freedom in today’s climate.

The Liberal Democrats’ agreement to pay such significant damages acknowledges the severity of their discrimination. While no amount of money can fully compensate for the violation of one’s fundamental rights, this settlement establishes an important legal precedent for protecting Christians from similar treatment.
