The Journey Church family is grieving after the loss of Pastor Joshua R. Rene, known for his dedication to his family, church, and faith.
Members gathered Sunday for a heartfelt worship service themed around finding faith during life’s valleys.
Lead Pastor Scott Baugh expressed how much Rene meant to the congregation, especially highlighting his friendship and joyful spirit.
“It just doesn’t feel real,”
Baugh said in the video.
“I don’t know what to say. For so many of you, he was Pastor Josh, and he was an amazing pastor.”
“But to me, he was just Josh. He was a friend, as close as a brother to me for 10 years.”
The church took time to honor Rene’s legacy and to pray for his family, lifting up the values of love and service he modeled.
“There was never a person he didn’t love, there was never a person he didn’t make time for,”
Baugh said through tears during the worship service.
“The one thing about Josh was that he was always joyful, always had faith.”
“One of the most amazing things that has struck me through this whole thing is to see the outpouring on social media and phone calls.”
The accident occurred when Rene’s motorcycle was struck by a vehicle, leading to his tragic passing at the scene.
“As a church community we are heartbroken over the loss of our beloved Pastor Josh,”
the church stated.
“Please pray with us for the Rene family.”
One message of comfort shared online reflected biblical hope:
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I shall set you over much; enter the joy of your Lord.'”
As we pray for his family, let us hold fast to the promise that faith, family, and God’s love will carry us through every valley.

White House Press Secretary Defends U.S. Security
Faith Facts
- White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt denounced the misuse of the U.S. asylum process in light of a tragic shooting involving National Guard soldiers.
- Leavitt invoked the words of Christ from the Gospel of John to honor the fallen and injured soldiers.

“Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
She insisted that leaders must prioritize the well-being of American families, urge assimilation rooted in American values, and defend the nation against policies that compromise safety and freedom.

Churches Must Stand With Abuse Survivors
Faith Facts
- A California church faces a lawsuit for failing to support an abuse survivor who sought help.
- A survey found that 36 percent of survivors said their church’s response made their situation worse.
- Most churches did not refer victims to specialist services, placing individuals at increased risk.
Church leaders play a vital role in upholding godly compassion and standing against domestic abuse.
God calls us to protect the vulnerable and promote justice within our communities.
How Churches Can Respond Faithfully
Believing survivors is a crucial first step in demonstrating Christ-like love and support.
Prioritizing the safety and well-being of victims and their children reflects Biblical care for those in need.
Churches should help survivors identify options, connect with appropriate services, and follow safeguarding policies diligently.
Accurate documentation of disclosures and responses ensures accountability and protection for all involved.
Creating a Culture of Safety
Faith communities must foster openness about abuse, teaching from the pulpit and providing resources that help individuals feel safe disclosing their experiences.
Continuous education equips church leaders to recognize abuse and respond with both grace and wisdom rooted in God’s Word.
Together, we can make our churches sanctuaries for healing, challenge harmful mindsets, and reflect Christ’s love to all.
Stand firm for truth, justice, and the protection of every person made in God’s image. Let us pray for courage and wisdom as we seek to restore lives and uphold the honor of the Body of Christ.
