The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is significantly disrupting sacred Holy Week traditions in the land where our Lord walked.

Security restrictions and the harsh realities of war have led to the cancellation of the traditional Palm Sunday procession into the city.

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa expressed deep sorrow over the loss of these communal journeys.

He noted that celebrations at the Holy Sepulchre remain uncertain.

Despite these trials, the faithful are encouraged to remain steadfast in prayer and spiritual unity.

“The empty tomb is the seal of the victory of life over hatred, of mercy over sin,” the Cardinal stated.
