Faith-Based Help for Post-Holiday Debt Woes
Faith Facts
- Many Britons are facing anxiety over finances following Christmas spending and soaring bills.
- Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is offering face-to-face debt support through their “Break the Debt Blues” campaign.
- Nearly a quarter of UK residents have received assistance from Christian organizations, often in the form of food support.
Economic challenges after the holidays are placing many families in difficult financial situations.
CAP CEO Stewart McCulloch highlighted how critical Christian compassion is in these moments, reminding individuals they are not alone.
“The first few weeks of the New Year can be tough, but for millions of people this financial strain is acute. We know that over 15 million people in the UK suffer daily anxiety about their finances, and the post-Christmas period often adds more pressure.”
Through biblical principles of caring for neighbors, CAP’s outreach invites those in hardship to seek help and make positive changes.
“So many people appreciate that face-to-face support; it gives us the chance to sit down, chat, and properly understand what you are going through. Whether you’re facing a mountain of unopened letters or just don’t know where to start, we can help you gather everything needed to put a plan in place.”
He said.
Sharon, once helped by CAP, now serves others, demonstrating how Christ-centered support can transform lives.
“I was a mum with young kids, thousands of pounds in debt, and I honestly thought I’d never get out of the mess I was in.”
“Then I heard about CAP. I made that first call to their helpline and was introduced to a local debt advisor—a wonderful lady called Kathryn who changed my life.”
Now is the time for communities of faith to shine, offering hope and hands-on help to families burdened by debt.
Let us continue to put our faith into action, bringing light and relief to those in need.
