  • Congressman Dan Crenshaw responded to public scrutiny of his finances by challenging fellow Navy SEAL and podcast host Shawn Ryan to a live interview.
  • Shawn Ryan refused to retract statements questioning Crenshaw’s wealth and criticized any demands for an apology or content removal.
  • Crenshaw denied hosting lavish events with high-profile entertainers and insisted Ryan’s accusations were based on misleading narratives.

Representative Crenshaw, upholding the value of open dialogue, proposed a face-to-face conversation with Ryan to address concerns over his finances and conduct as a Christian in leadership.

Ryan publicly shared that Crenshaw’s legal team demanded content removal and an apology, but Ryan maintained his right to question the stewardship and transparency of elected officials.

“They want me to remove content, issue a public apology and stop talking about him. I’m not going to do any of that.”

Ryan aired his concerns in an interview with Tulsi Gabbard regarding congressional finances and questioned how a member could afford extravagant events.

Crenshaw responded by directly messaging Ryan, pointing to the importance of facts over rumors and challenging the spread of mere speculation.

“Hey Shawn, you have the ability to contact your fellow Team Guy if you’ve got a problem with me or have questions about how I’m getting ‘rich.’ From the comment you made, it sounds like you have some beliefs that are based on trendy narratives instead of facts.”

Although Ryan raised further concerns, citing past heated remarks by Crenshaw, the Congressman clarified that his statements had been hyperbolic.

“Sorry Shawn, but it is not believable that a fellow SEAL actually read this message and believed I was threatening to ‘whoop his ass.'”

Crenshaw ultimately challenged Ryan to host him in a live, public forum, emphasizing the importance of transparency and truth for the American people.

“SEAL to SEAL. Your audience. Your platform. Live. If you’re not afraid of the truth, have me on. Yes or no?”

Ryan accepted the invitation, with both parties agreeing to settle any legal details through their attorneys.

“Mr. Ryan, as a journalist and commentator, has every right to question how a congressman affords a lifestyle that appears inconsistent with a $174,000 congressional salary.”

As believers, holding our leaders to account and insisting on honesty in public service honors God and strengthens the foundations of faith and freedom in our nation.
