Pastor Frederick D. Haynes III, who leads the 13,000-member Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, is facing renewed attention over a 2009 lawsuit.

The suit alleged that Haynes sent $2,000 to a woman after she mailed him a topless photo.

“The lawsuit claimed that Pastor Haynes wired the money in response to the photo sent by the woman,” the filing stated.

Haynes has built a prominent ministry in Dallas with thousands of congregants under his care.

His decision to enter the congressional race has brought past legal matters back into public view.

“This matter was resolved years ago and does not reflect who I am as a pastor or leader,” Haynes stated in previous comments regarding the suit.
