Christian leaders across Canada are encouraging local churches to embrace a year of dedicated prayer for students and school staff. As young Canadians return to school amid uncertainty and cultural pressures, faith communities are reminded of their call to spiritual support and collective intercession.
Tim Teakle, Alpha Youth Director at Alpha Canada, emphasized the need for believers to intentionally lift up students, teachers, and support staff as they face significant academic and personal challenges. He stressed prayer as a vital foundation for those shaping the nation’s future.
“Our high schools are filled with students navigating the challenges and changes of life. Teachers who have committed themselves to helping the rising generation thrive. Support staff who make it all possible. Each of them needs prayer.”
The “Made For This: Uniting in Prayer for All 4,911 High Schools Across Canada” campaign invites churches to regularly pray for their chosen schools, fostering unity and relying on God’s transformative power through faith and community.
Shaila Visser, Alpha Canada’s National Director, encouraged believers: “We believe this generation of young people is remarkable—creative, resilient, and full of potential to lead with empathy and courage. They were made for these times and we, the church, are made for this moment: to champion them, support them, and cover them in prayer.”
Joanna la Fleur of Alpha Canada noted the campaign will continue throughout the entire school year up to June 2026, asking congregations to persevere in prayer for youth across the nation.
Now is the time for every Christian to stand in faith for Canada’s youth—raising up the next generation through faithful and united prayer, guided by biblical principles and hope for the country’s future.
