The Church of England demonstrates its commitment to the wellbeing of ministers, allocating substantial resources to address both spiritual and practical needs. This funding reflects the value placed on clergy and the vital role they play in the life of the Church and the nation.
St Luke’s for Clergy Wellbeing will use its grant to increase access to independent mental health support and strengthen early intervention strategies. The organization is dedicated to providing timely care, supporting the ongoing health of ministers and their families.
The Clergy Support Trust is set to assist clergy with everyday expenses and emergencies, including rising energy costs and family needs. The trust extends support through grants, counseling, coaching, and occupational therapy.
The Bishop of Chester, Dr Mark Tanner, affirmed the essential work of these charities, stating:
“Clergy are a remarkable and often overlooked gift to the communities they serve.”
“Their hard work and dedication makes a difference to countless lives, and their own well-being matters hugely.”
Ben Cahill-Nicholls, Chief Executive of Clergy Support Trust, highlighted the ongoing financial pressures clergy experience, and welcomed the Church’s partnership in meeting these needs.
Tim Ling, Chief Executive of St Luke’s, noted that the new resources will expand access to therapies and enhance collaboration for quicker, more effective support.
This renewed investment comes ahead of a 10.7% pay rise for clergy, underlining the Church’s care for its ministers and their families.
Our faith community stands united in prayer and action, grateful for those who shepherd and guide with humility and perseverance.
