The spirit of Christmas inspires believers across America to give with open hearts, echoing Christ’s call to serve others. The Lifeway study shows that countless Protestant churchgoers respond by generously sharing both financial blessings and material gifts with those in need.
“There is no shortage of opportunities and numerous requests for donations at Christmastime, and most churchgoers do give charitably at this time of year,” said Scott McConnell, executive director of Lifeway Research.
Church efforts to aid the needy see significant participation, with 49% of respondents supporting these ministries and 37% giving to missions offerings. This reflects the Biblical principle of stewardship and compassion, especially prominent during the sacred season when Christ’s love is celebrated.
For Christians, the act of giving—whether through funds, gifts, or time—demonstrates faithful obedience and community investment, honoring God’s command to care for others.
