Dr. Pramila Lall, a Christian trailblazer in medicine, dedicated her life to healing the sight of Pakistan’s underserved through decades of compassionate eye care. She courageously followed God’s calling despite tremendous challenges, touching countless lives and training future generations.

Born in India and led by the Lord to Pakistan after her marriage, Dr. Lall became a pioneer as the country’s first woman ophthalmologist and performed groundbreaking surgeries that transformed patient care.

“When I was young, I had a speech defect. I couldn’t speak out… My only hope was to be a veterinarian and take care of animals since I didn’t need to talk to them,” she said.

In her own words, Dr. Lall remembered crossing into Pakistan, “Crossing over, the Pakistani immigration official said: ‘Welcome to Pakistan. We need doctors in this country.’”

Even when tempted to leave during times of difficulty, she chose perseverance and faith: “Once you put your hand to the plow, you don’t turn back. Stick to your job and have faith in God.”

Honored both at home and abroad, Dr. Lall used her platform to advocate for Christians and other minorities. Her legacy is a testament to Christ-centered service and love for neighbor.

May we be inspired by Dr. Lall’s faithful obedience and servant heart to stand strong for our values and serve our communities with Christlike compassion.
