  • Placing ourselves at the center leads to pride and burnout, while Christ alone is Savior.
  • Scripture shows even Jesus’ disciples struggled with wanting to be the greatest.
  • True greatness in God’s eyes is found in serving, not seeking attention for ourselves.

Sometimes, even well-meaning believers can mistakenly see themselves as the hero of the story, forgetting that Jesus Christ holds that place.

When we try to carry the burdens of life on our own, we discover our limits and the powerful freedom found only in surrendering to Christ.

Rev Jamie Sewell shared how a youth’s lighthearted “I’m the main character!” revealed the temptation to put ourselves first, rather than pointing to the Savior.

“If I was going to take the credit for the success stories, I had to take the blame for the tragedies.”

This mindset often leads to disappointment, as our efforts alone cannot redeem a broken world.

Even the apostles argued over status, but Jesus corrected them, teaching that true greatness comes from humble service, not self-importance.

“The greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.” (Luke 22:25–26)

Let us all remember it’s Jesus Christ who transforms lives, and our calling is to serve Him and others, humbly reflecting His love.
