California Assembly Blocks Bill on Human Trafficking of Teens

Published

on

In a move that raises serious concerns about the protection of our most vulnerable, California Democrats in the State Assembly have once again blocked a crucial bill aimed at making the sex trafficking of minors a felony. This time, the focus is on victims aged 16 and 17. The decision to block this bill highlights the ongoing debate between those who seek to uphold justice and those influenced by the ideals of “criminal justice reform.”

Republican State Senator Shannon Grove from Bakersfield has been a steadfast advocate for protecting minors from the horrors of sex trafficking. Her proposed bill aimed to classify the sex trafficking of minors as a “serious felony,” a move that received unanimous support in the State Senate. However, the Democrats on the State Assembly’s Public Safety Committee have consistently obstructed its progress, citing a reluctance to increase criminal penalties.

This obstruction is not just a political maneuver; it is a moral failing. It is a refusal to stand up for the innocent and to hold accountable those who exploit them. The reluctance to enforce stricter penalties is particularly troubling given the influence of certain prosecutors who have shown a tendency to avoid enforcing the law under the guise of reform.

Assemblyman Nick Shultz, the Democratic chairman of the committee, stated, “My perspective as chair, there was a carefully crafted deal last year.” This deal, struck in 2024, allowed the bill to advance but only for victims under the age of 16. Now, as State Assemblymember Maggy Krell attempts to extend these protections to 16 and 17-year-olds, her efforts are met with resistance from her own party.

The refusal to advance this bill is a disservice to the youth of California. It is a denial of justice for those who have suffered unimaginable exploitation. Furthermore, it highlights a troubling trend where the safety of children is compromised in favor of political agendas.

The proposed bill, even in its current form, seeks to address some of the damage caused by a 2022 bill signed by Governor Gavin Newsom. That legislation prevented police from arresting prostitutes for loitering, leading to a surge in street prostitution and, alarmingly, child sex trafficking. The rollback of this bill is a step in the right direction, but it is not enough.

This issue is further complicated by efforts from individuals like State Senator Scott Wiener, who has pushed to decriminalize various sex crimes involving minors, arguing that these laws disproportionately affect certain communities. While it is essential to ensure fairness and equality, it is equally crucial to protect children from exploitation and harm.

We must continue to advocate for policies that prioritize the safety and well-being of our children. We must hold our leaders accountable and demand that they act in the best interests of our communities. It is our duty to uphold the values of faith, family, and freedom, ensuring that justice prevails for the most vulnerable among us.

Faith Facts

  • Thousands of international attendees convened in London this week to address what they view as existential threats to Western civilization and traditional values.
  • The gathering focused on reversing cultural decline and rebuilding foundational principles that have sustained Western society for centuries.
  • Participants united around concerns that the West is abandoning its Judeo-Christian heritage and the values that made it prosperous and free.

A remarkable gathering took place in London this week, drawing thousands of concerned citizens from across the globe. These attendees share a common conviction: Western civilization faces existential threats that demand immediate attention and action.

The conference centered on a critical question that resonates with many Americans who hold traditional values: Can the West be saved from its current trajectory of decline? Participants expressed deep concern about the erosion of foundational principles that have sustained Western society for generations.

The event’s focus on moving from “deconstruction” to “reconstruction” reflects a growing recognition among conservatives that cultural institutions, family structures, and religious freedoms have been systematically undermined. Many attendees believe that reversing this course requires intentional effort to rebuild what has been torn down.

For American Christians and conservatives, this international gathering represents more than just a conference. It symbolizes a worldwide movement of people who refuse to accept the narrative that Western values—rooted in Judeo-Christian tradition—are outdated or oppressive.

The sense of urgency among participants stems from witnessing rapid cultural changes that seem to contradict the principles of faith, family, and freedom that built prosperous democratic societies. These concerned citizens are not content to watch passively as institutions crumble and values shift.

The London gathering demonstrates that the desire to preserve and restore traditional Western values transcends national boundaries. People from diverse backgrounds are uniting around shared concerns about the direction of their societies and the future they will leave to their children.

This movement toward reconstruction offers hope that it’s not too late to reclaim the cultural ground that has been lost. By gathering together, sharing ideas, and committing to action, these thousands of attendees are taking the first steps toward renewal.

Global Leaders Gather in London With Urgent Mission to Save Western Civilization

Published

Faith Facts

  • Thousands of international leaders and thinkers convened in London this week to address what they identify as existential threats to Western civilization and traditional values
  • The gathering reflects growing concern among Christians and conservatives about cultural decline and the systematic deconstruction of foundational principles
  • Participants are united in their commitment to reversing course and rebuilding society on time-tested Judeo-Christian foundations

An unprecedented gathering is taking place in London this week as thousands converge from across the globe with a shared mission. These leaders, thinkers, and concerned citizens recognize that Western civilization faces threats unlike any in recent memory—and they’re determined to act.

The assembly reflects a growing awareness among people of faith and traditional values that the very foundations of our society are under assault. From family structures to religious freedom, from educational integrity to national sovereignty, the pillars that have sustained Western prosperity and liberty for centuries are being systematically dismantled.

What makes this gathering significant is not just the diagnosis of decline, but the unified commitment to reconstruction. Attendees aren’t simply lamenting what’s been lost—they’re strategizing about how to rebuild on principles that have proven their worth across generations.

The sense of urgency is palpable. Many participants recognize that the window for peaceful, democratic restoration may be closing. The cultural revolution that has swept through institutions—from universities to corporations to government agencies—has accelerated at an alarming pace, leaving many Americans feeling like strangers in their own country.

Yet amid the concern, there’s also hope. The very fact that thousands are willing to travel internationally to address these challenges demonstrates that the spirit of the West—rooted in faith, reason, and liberty—is far from extinguished.

This movement represents more than political activism. It’s a spiritual and cultural awakening among those who understand that civilization isn’t self-sustaining. Each generation must choose whether to preserve, improve, and pass along the inheritance they’ve received—or allow it to crumble through neglect or active destruction.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. Western civilization, built on Judeo-Christian values and classical liberal principles, has produced unprecedented human flourishing. Religious freedom, rule of law, scientific advancement, and individual dignity—these aren’t accidents of history but fruits of a worldview that recognizes human beings as created in God’s image.

The question now is whether this generation will rise to defend and restore what previous generations built and preserved at great cost. The gathering in London suggests that many are ready for that challenge.

Nations Unite Behind Bold Declaration on Surrogacy and Human Dignity

Faith Facts

  • A coalition of governments launched a political declaration at the United Nations calling for an international moratorium on surrogacy
  • The declaration frames surrogacy as incompatible with human rights protections for women and children
  • The initiative represents a significant international effort to protect the dignity of women and children from commodification

In a significant development at the United Nations, a coalition of governments has formally launched a political declaration calling for a global moratorium on surrogacy. The declaration, presented on June 22, takes a firm stance on the practice, framing it as fundamentally incompatible with human rights protections for women and children.

This bold initiative represents a growing international recognition of the ethical concerns surrounding surrogacy arrangements. The declaration highlights how these practices can reduce women and children to commodities in commercial transactions, raising serious moral and human dignity questions.

The coalition’s action at the UN marks a pivotal moment in the global conversation about the intersection of reproductive technology, women’s rights, and children’s welfare. By calling for an international moratorium, these nations are asserting that certain practices, regardless of technological capability, must be evaluated through the lens of human dignity and protection of the vulnerable.

The declaration comes at a time when surrogacy arrangements have become increasingly commercialized in various parts of the world. Advocates for the moratorium argue that such arrangements often exploit economically vulnerable women and treat children as products to be bought and sold, rather than as human beings created in the image of God with inherent dignity and worth.

This international effort reflects traditional values that prioritize the protection of women and children from exploitation. The coalition’s stand at the United Nations demonstrates a willingness to challenge modern practices that may violate fundamental principles of human dignity, even when those practices are technologically possible and legally permitted in some jurisdictions.

The declaration’s emphasis on human rights protections aligns with a Christian worldview that sees every person as possessing intrinsic value. By framing surrogacy as incompatible with these protections, the coalition is making a moral statement about the limits that should be placed on reproductive technologies and commercial arrangements involving human life.

As this declaration moves forward in the international arena, it will likely spark important conversations about the proper boundaries of reproductive technology and the responsibilities nations have to protect their most vulnerable citizens. The coalition’s action represents a courageous stand for human dignity in an age where technological advancement often outpaces ethical consideration.
