Worship leader Brandon Lake recently addressed questions about inclusivity within the Church during an appearance on a Rolling Stone podcast.

When asked if there was room for someone identifying as a “Christian Buddhist,” Lake expressed a desire for the Church to remain an open environment for conversation.

Lake emphasized that Jesus frequently shared meals and engaged in dialogue with those seeking answers.

He suggested that the Church should be a place where people feel welcome to explore faith even if they do not yet fully align with all traditional doctrines.

“I think Jesus would love to sit down with you, would love to have this conversation with you, and you can.”

The singer also touched on the use of “Christianese” language in worship sets, suggesting that overtly biblical terms can sometimes alienate newcomers.

He expressed a desire to keep the “guy in the back of the room” in mind when selecting music for services.

As believers, we are called to provide a welcoming atmosphere for those seeking the Truth while ensuring our worship remains firmly rooted in the holiness of God.

May we always seek to balance loving outreach with the uncompromising message of Christ.
