  • At least 64 Christians were killed on September 8 in Ntoyo village, North Kivu, DRC.
  • The perpetrators, believed to be ADF militants aligned with ISIS, targeted believers at a wake, burning homes and killing with guns and hammers.
  • This attack follows a series of similar massacres, with 52 killed in August and 43 at a July prayer vigil, highlighting escalating anti-Christian violence.

The severity of anti-Christian violence in Africa is underscored by repeated attacks on faithful communities. These events are a tragic reminder of the sacrifices Christians endure for their faith.

Bishop Melchisédech Sikuli Paluko offered comfort to affected families, praying, “May God, the Master of Life, strengthen us through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, consoler of the afflicted, and lead us beyond the desert of present-day suffering to lasting peace.”

Similar experiences are felt in Nigeria, where Bishop Wilfred Anagbe described regular massacres of Christians, noting that attacks have even become “customary” during holy seasons.

While Nigeria remains one of the most dangerous places for believers, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s growing persecution reflects a troubling trend for Christians seeking to live out their faith in hostile regions.

Let us stand firm in prayer and support for our persecuted brothers and sisters, asking the Lord to bring peace and courage to all who endure hardship for the Gospel.
