Biblical Convictions Dwindle Among Churchgoers

Published

on

Faith Facts

  • A new survey finds a significant drop in biblical convictions about family, life, and morality among American churchgoers.
  • Only 43% now call themselves pro-life, a fall from 63% in 2023, while just 46% uphold the biblical family model of marriage between one man and one woman raising children.
  • Despite the decline, almost 80% of participants still affirm that all people are created in God’s image and every life carries intrinsic value.

The study highlights that cultural influence is eroding long-held Christian values even among those attending church regularly. Younger generations are particularly impacted, with only 34% of Gen Z embracing a traditional view of family.

“Once-firm beliefs about family, life, and morality are giving way to cultural influence and personal opinion. Even among regular churchgoers, moral clarity is fading fast.”

Dr George Barna, the study’s lead researcher, urges Christians to boldly engage with family and friends about biblical truths and not allow unbiblical perspectives to go unchallenged.

“We cannot let unbiblical views go unchallenged. Christ-followers must not only know what they believe and why, but must be actively seeking to challenge points of view that are biblically indefensible.”

David Closson from the Family Research Council points out that the data signals a discipleship crisis, with modern influences outpacing the church’s voice.

“When the people of God lose moral clarity on something as fundamental as the sanctity of life, it signals a serious discipleship crisis.”

Still, the research points to enduring hope. A majority of believers continue to affirm core biblical truths, encouraging Christian leaders to meet today’s cultural challenges with conviction and scriptural guidance.

“This research shows the great need for biblical teaching on the great issues of our day, like the sanctity of life, the family, and human sexuality. The good news is that Christians are looking to church leaders for guidance.”

Now is the time for strong, faith-filled leadership, equipping both young and old to uphold God’s truth in the public square. Our families, communities, and nation need a renewed commitment to God’s Word and unwavering Christian conviction.

“The war between Hamas and Israel has ended but the conflict with its underlying causes didn’t end.”

“A solution to the Palestinian/Israeli conflict should be reached according to the international resolutions. It is not easy yet not impossible.”

Are Churches Teaching Biblical Truth Boldly?

Published

on

Faith Facts

  • A recent study found that less than half of churchgoers believe the Bible has clear teachings on homosexuality or transgenderism.
  • The number of people viewing the Bible as “clear & decisive” on abortion, religious liberty, and marriage has declined since 2023.
  • Family Research Council President Tony Perkins says many churches are not consistently teaching biblical truths on key social issues.

Church attendance does not always translate to a strong understanding of biblical teachings on important moral topics. According to this new research, confusion among believers is rising regarding what Scripture truly says about issues dominating today’s culture.

Perkins emphasized the responsibility of pastors and churches to address these topics through faithful and systematic teaching of God’s Word.

“Many pastors, many churches are not systematically teaching the word of God,” Perkins said.

He noted that when churches neglect clear and regular instruction, culture fills the gap, shaping Christian worldviews away from biblical foundations.

Calvary Chapel churches were held up as positive examples due to their commitment to teaching through the whole Bible, engaging every subject as it arises.

In times of cultural confusion, Christian families and churches must courageously speak, teach, and live according to biblical principles, defending faith, truth, and freedom for future generations.
