Assemblies of God Unveils Bold Mission Expansion

- The Assemblies of God World Missions (AGWM) has launched its most ambitious global outreach in over 70 years to reach the world’s unengaged and unreached people groups.
- This initiative was announced at the 2025 General Council, with leaders committing to extend the gospel to populations with no access to the message of Christ.
- AGWM’s goal is to increase its missionary force by over 1,400 workers by 2033, focusing on regions where the name of Jesus is still unknown.
The Assemblies of God is taking historic steps to respond to what leaders see as God’s call to the nations, declaring a plan to reach hearts that have never heard the gospel. This renewed commitment is rooted in faithfulness to Christ’s Great Commission and a desire to answer the world’s spiritual hunger.
“This initiative represents what we believe will usher in the greatest spiritual harvest our generation has seen,” said AGWM Executive Director John Easter.
Currently, 42% of Earth’s population remains unreached, with entire people groups living without churches or believers among them. AGWM aims to directly address this by sending new missionaries and building partnerships that boldly close the gospel access gap.
John Easter described his sense of spiritual urgency after stepping into leadership, seeking the Lord’s direction to make measurable progress in bringing the Good News to the unreached.
“Forty-two percent. We’ve heard this for 20 years. When are we going to take the 42% and step out, commit ourselves, and make it 41%? What if we took the 42% and made it 40%, 39%, 38%?” Easter challenged partners.
Assemblies of God General Superintendent Doug Clay joined in prayer for a new outpouring of evangelistic energy, emphasizing the role of a Spirit-led, Bible-engaged church in fulfilling God’s redemptive work.
“It’s not just an AGWM thing… It’s an Assemblies of God USA thing — a Bible-engaged, Spirit-empowered, missions-participation Church that’s going to raise up sons and daughters to go to these places where there is not an adequate presentation of Jesus,” Clay affirmed.
Leaders outlined a shift in strategy, ensuring every global worker carries a burden for those with no access to the gospel and pressing towards new and unreached frontiers.
Each new church partnership, planting effort, and soul reached will bring the world one step closer to fulfilling the Great Commission as AGWM prays for a profound response to God’s call in this generation.
The mobilization of Generation Z is seen as central, with young Christians encouraged to answer God’s call and serve among the least-reached, carrying the light of Christ into dark places.
“Gen Z is the largest generation in history. We believe that if we can begin to walk with this generation from the point of the calling to the place of the calling, we’re going to see this mobilization force that begins to go into those places that nobody’s ever gone before,” said AGWM NextGen Strategist Jacob Jester.
Though the challenge is great, unity and hope abound among Assemblies of God leaders. This unprecedented mission is embraced in faith that God will continue to open doors and equip His people for the harvest.
Sarah Jump, AGWM’s mobilization and development director, shared: “The sense in the room was: This is not impossible. This is absolutely something we can get behind and we can do. This is something that we hope to do for our generation.”
