Dame Sarah Mullally delivered her first presidential address to the General Synod, acknowledging previous shortcomings in the Church of England’s safeguarding practices. She reaffirmed her commitment to integrity, transparency, and raising standards to protect the vulnerable in every church setting.
“We must be wholly committed to listening to victims and survivors, to independent scrutiny of our safeguarding practices, and to delivering timely and robust trauma-informed processes.”
She underscored the importance of putting the experiences of the hurt at the center of current and future safeguarding reforms.
