Recent survey data reveals an encouraging shift in how Americans perceive religion’s role in society, with more people embracing its positive impact and acknowledging its growing presence in public life.

Pew’s research shows nearly 59% of U.S. adults hold a net positive view of religion, reflecting a steady increase in appreciation for faith-based values across the nation.

“Americans’ views about religion in public life are shifting. From February 2024 to February 2025, there was a sharp rise in the share of U.S. adults who say religion is gaining influence in American life,” wrote Pew Research Associate Chip Rotolo.

Support for religion’s positive role extends strongly among white Evangelical Protestants (92%), and most other Christian groups share this sentiment, signifying unity in faith communities.

Majorities across political lines acknowledge religion’s value, though division remains among Democrats, showing opportunities for faith to further unite Americans.

The findings also highlight that younger generations continue to value faith, though to a lesser extent, reminding us of the importance of passing down Christian principles to the next generation.
