Rev. Jesse Jackson Passes, Legacy Remembered
Faith Facts
- Rev. Jesse Jackson, Baptist minister and civil rights leader, has died at age 84.
- He was known for his advocacy, presidential campaigns, and work with the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.
- Jackson was deeply influenced by his Christian faith while championing justice and equality.
Rev. Jesse Jackson’s legacy is woven into the fabric of the civil rights movement, shaped by his service as a faith-driven leader and advocate for the marginalized.
His journey began as a servant leader in his community and echoed across the nation as he stood up for biblical values of justice and compassion.
“Our father was a servant leader — not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world,” said the Jackson family in their statement.
Jackson was born in South Carolina to a single mother, excelled in academics, and later studied theology, demonstrating how Christian convictions can inspire great works for the nation.
He took early inspiration from Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., learning from both guidance and criticism to build a ministry aimed at unity and common purpose.
His actions, including forming People United to Save Humanity and the National Rainbow Coalition, reflected a deep commitment to serving others and promoting opportunity through faith.
As a candidate for president in the 1980s, Jackson broke barriers and challenged stereotypes, encouraging citizens to live boldly in the pursuit of national unity.
“While other boys my age wanted to be Michael Jordan, I wanted to be Jesse Jackson,” remembered Rev. Jamal Bryant, demonstrating the lasting influence of Jackson’s character and purpose.
Jackson, like all of us, faced struggles and owned his mistakes, publicly accepting responsibility while maintaining his focus on service and restoration.
In later years, health trials limited his activity, yet his dedication and witness to faith and freedom remained steadfast until the end.
As we reflect on his life, may we be reminded to uphold biblical justice, pursue godly leadership, and support the cause of liberty for every American.

Church of England Holds Line on Marriage
Faith Facts
- The Church of England’s General Synod voted to end efforts aimed at introducing dedicated blessing ceremonies for same-sex couples in churches.
- A nine-year process known as Living in Love and Faith concluded without agreement on changes to time-honored biblical teachings about marriage.
- Blessings for same-sex couples remain limited to prayers during standard Sunday services, not separate church ceremonies.
After extended debate, the General Synod agreed to halt work on special blessing services. The decision reflects ongoing differences between conservative and liberal members, with no compromise reached on altering the definition of marriage as upheld by Scripture.
The Synod will create new groups tasked with discussing relationships, sexuality, and gender, keeping future conversation alive while standing firm on Christian doctrine. An official apology was issued for distress felt on all sides throughout this challenging period.
Church leaders cited unresolved moral and legal issues as reasons not to permit these ceremonies. Votes showed strong support for the bishops’ motion in all houses, and attempts to alter the plan were unsuccessful.
Archbishop Stephen Cottrell admitted sorrow over the process, acknowledging the pain it caused and responsibility for the lack of clarity. “We have been wrong to treat Living in Love and Faith as a project to be delivered,” he said.
Some Synod members emphasized that upholding biblical standards is vital to maintaining Christian unity. Busola Sodeinde highlighted that Anglicans in the Global South felt overlooked and rejected unfair labels.
Archbishop Sarah Mullally reflected on the deeply personal nature of the debate. “The process has left wounds, but I am thankful for members’ continued commitment,” she stated.
The Church of England’s vote preserves scriptural truth amid cultural pressure, affirming its foundation in faith, family, and biblical marriage. Pray that continued dialogue will be rooted in grace and truth as the Church seeks God’s will in every matter.

Texas Senate Hopeful Questions Biblical Standards
Faith Facts
- Senate candidate James Talarico claims the Bible does not mention abortion or gay marriage.
- Talarico argues Jesus focused on caring for others and welcoming strangers as the way to salvation.
- His pastor has reportedly described Jesus as a ‘radical feminist’ and affirmed gay marriage as biblical.
James Talarico, a candidate for U.S. Senate and Texas state representative, shared his views on faith during a televised interview, claiming that key political issues like abortion and gay marriage are not addressed in the Bible. He emphasized that, in his understanding, Jesus taught that salvation is found in compassionate care for others.
“Jesus in Matthew 25 tells us exactly how you and I and every one of our fellow believers, how we’re going to be judged and how we’re going to be saved: by feeding the hungry, by healing the sick, by welcoming the stranger,” Talarico stated.
Talarico questioned the priorities of the religious right, asserting that the most important commandments are to love God and neighbor without exception. He argued against what he called ‘Christian nationalism,’ suggesting it misuses faith for political purposes.
His pastor at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church has come under scrutiny for ordaining LGBT clergy and previously labeled Jesus a ‘radical feminist.’ These assertions have raised concerns within faith communities that value biblical authority and traditional doctrine.
In contrast, House Speaker Mike Johnson, a fellow Christian leader, underscored that scriptural commands to love the stranger are directed at individuals, not governments. He cited Romans 13 to defend the role of authorities in preserving order and protecting society.
As Christians, we are called to uphold biblical truth and defend the sanctity of life, marriage, and family, rooting our civic engagement firmly in God’s Word. Stay informed and continue praying for our leaders and the future of our nation.

Why Christians Must Talk About Heaven Too
Faith Facts
- Hollywood increasingly addresses the afterlife, while many churches avoid the topic of heaven.
- Biblical teaching reveals heaven as the renewal of creation, not an escape from earth.
- Followers of Jesus are called to reflect heaven’s reality on earth through restored living.
American entertainment is fascinated with the afterlife, often prompting viewers to consider eternity beyond this world. Yet, many believers hesitate to discuss the biblical promise of renewed creation with confidence and clarity.
Moments when popular movies or shows focus on what comes next serve as open doors for Christians to share true biblical hope with neighbors and friends.
Many have vague or unexciting ideas about heaven, shaped more by cultural imagery than by scripture itself. The Bible offers a far richer vision rooted in God’s love and creativity.
Heaven, according to the Christian faith, is not only a distant future but a current reality breaking into our world.
God’s plan revealed in scripture is not about abandoning the world, but about uniting heaven and earth in perfect harmony.
The first book of Genesis pictures Eden as a meeting place for God and humanity, where beauty, order, and purpose flowed from obedience to the Lord.
Sin tore this unity apart, introducing corruption and separation from God. Yet, Jesus Christ came to bring reconciliation, healing the divide through his sacrifice and resurrection.
“The kingdom of heaven has come near.”
As the perfect bridge between humanity and God, Jesus not only forgives sin but draws the presence of heaven into daily life.
Believers in Christ become temples of God’s Spirit, bringing heaven’s values of justice, peace, and renewal to the world around them. This is our calling as followers of Jesus.
Scripture shows that in the end God will dwell physically with His people and restore creation. Our eternal hope is a world made whole under Christ’s rule.
“Everything that is evil will be destroyed, while everything that is good and beautiful and true will be purified.”
The Christian vision of heaven is a place of healed relationships, meaningful activity, and lasting joy, fully centered on worship and service to God.
This hope inspires us to work for goodness in every aspect of life, knowing that nothing done for Christ will be lost but will echo into eternity.
Let us boldly speak of the true hope found in Christ, bringing light to a world longing for justice, peace, and purpose. Our faith points the way to a restored creation where freedom and God’s glory abound.
