Bible Curiosity Surges Among UK Youth

Faith Facts

  • Bible sales in the UK rose by 134% in 2025, reaching £6.3 million.
  • Over 140,000 Gospels were shared across the UK by Hope Together’s Great Gospel Giveaway.
  • A majority of Gen Z now identify as spiritual, showing increased openness to faith.

A dramatic increase in Bible sales and spiritual inquiry among young adults is prompting British church leaders to stand ready for new opportunities. The landscape is shifting as more youth seek Scripture, many without prior church involvement.

“For years, we have lived under a narrative of decline, and now we have to readjust our thinking and practice to live in this new, hopeful world of growth,” said Rachel Jordan-Wolf, executive director of Hope Together.

Recent research indicates spiritual interest is growing among the younger generation, challenging the notion that Christianity is fading in the UK. The Belief in Britain report showed 54% identified as Christian, a rise from recent census numbers.

“The Church in the UK is not in decline – I repeat, the Church in the UK is not in decline,” affirmed Ms Jordan-Wolf.

Churches are actively distributing the Gospel to meet this rising hunger for truth, placing free Gospels in public spaces through Hope Together’s initiatives. These practical acts remove barriers and make Scripture more accessible to seekers.

Christian bookshops witness young people searching for truth, inspired by a new longing for God’s Word. Ms Jordan-Wolf encourages congregations to be prepared: “Let’s be ready when someone says, ‘I don’t really know what I’m looking for … but I need a Bible.’”

Hope Together continues equipping churches for outreach, empowering Christians to meet this moment in faith, and recognizing God’s movement in a new generation. Now is the time for the Body of Christ to answer the call and share the hope of the Gospel with those seeking God’s truth and love.

Fewer Pastors Considering Leaving Ministry

Faith Facts

  • Just 24% of Protestant senior pastors considered leaving full-time ministry in 2025, down from 42% in 2022.
  • The decline in pastoral burnout reflects renewed hope and job satisfaction among leaders as churches find stability post-pandemic.
  • Pastoral stability has a direct impact on the spiritual and relational health of congregations.

Pastors are showing greater resilience as fewer consider leaving their callings in 2025 compared to the challenging years during and after the COVID-19 crisis.

New research highlights that only about a quarter of U.S. Protestant senior pastors seriously thought about quitting in the past year, marking an encouraging shift in church leadership morale.

“A meaningful minority of leaders still feel close to the edge, and younger pastors in particular remain vulnerable to burnout. But the shift matters.”

For many pastors, stabilizing churches have brought clarity and renewed purpose, reducing the burdens that led to high levels of vocational stress in the past.

Stable pastoral leadership is vital for congregational trust and long-term spiritual growth, and these encouraging trends can strengthen both faith and community values moving forward.

Let us continue to pray for our pastors as they faithfully shepherd their flocks, guarding their spiritual well-being and supporting their calling as spiritual leaders of our nation.

Honoring Jane Haining: Faithful Heroine Remembered

Faith Facts

  • Jane Haining, a Scottish missionary, gave her life defending Jewish children during the Holocaust.
  • A new mural in Paisley commemorates Haining’s courage and decade of service to the local community.
  • Faith and self-sacrifice drove Haining to stand with the persecuted, reminding all of Christ-like love in dark times.

A mural paying tribute to Jane Haining, who lovingly protected Jewish children during World War II, has been unveiled in Paisley, Scotland. Her selfless actions, rooted in her Christian faith, stand as a beacon of moral courage and compassion for all believers.

Jane Haining’s enduring commitment shined brightest when she chose to remain among her students during Nazi occupation. Her testimony calls on Christians today to defend the vulnerable, boldly embracing Christ’s teachings, regardless of personal cost.

“If these children need me in days of sunshine, how much more do they need me in days of darkness?”

The mural, created by local artists after consulting with Haining’s family, aims to inspire future generations with her example. This artwork reminds us that God calls ordinary people to do extraordinary things when they walk by faith.

“Jane Haining was a true heroine and her story needs recognition, whether it’s in Budapest, Paisley or Dunscore and I’m very honoured and privileged to produce a mural that hopefully does her and all her relatives proud.”

As believers, let us remember Jane Haining’s sacrifice and strive to reflect Christ’s love and bravery in our own communities. Honor those who live out Biblical conviction, serving others with faithfulness and humility.
