When Faith Demands Humility, Not Dominance
Faith Facts
- Dominion theology has historically led to actions that have tarnished the Christian witness throughout history
- Modern Christian nationalism risks repeating these mistakes by prioritizing political power over spiritual wisdom
- True Christian influence comes through humble service and demonstrated competence, not forced domination
The intersection of faith and governance has always presented challenges for believers seeking to honor God while engaging in the public square. While Christians have a responsibility to bring biblical principles to bear on society, the manner in which this occurs matters deeply.
Throughout history, dominion theology has taken root in various forms, sometimes leading to actions that contradicted the very teachings of Christ.
Today, some expressions of Christian nationalism appear to echo these historical mistakes. The desire to see Christian values reflected in our nation’s laws and culture is understandable and even commendable. However, when this desire manifests as a hunger for power rather than a commitment to servant leadership, it strays from the example Jesus set for His followers.
The challenge facing faithful Christians is distinguishing between righteous influence and prideful domination. Our Savior never sought political power for its own sake. Instead, He modeled sacrificial love, humility, and truth-telling, even when it cost Him everything.
As believers, we possess genuine spiritual wisdom that our nation desperately needs. The principles found in Scripture offer guidance on justice, mercy, family, and human dignity that can strengthen our communities. But this wisdom loses its power when we claim expertise beyond our actual knowledge or when we seek to impose rather than persuade.
The call to be salt and light in our culture does not mean demanding control over every aspect of society. It means bringing excellence, integrity, and compassion to whatever spheres God has placed us in. A Christian business owner serves the Kingdom by running an ethical company. A Christian teacher influences young minds through dedicated instruction and genuine care. A Christian in public office honors God through honest governance and faithful stewardship.
True Christian influence flows from demonstrated competence combined with godly character. When believers excel in their fields while maintaining their witness, they earn respect and a hearing for their values. When they demand authority without proving their capability, they damage the reputation of the faith they claim to represent.
The temptation toward dominance rather than service has plagued the church throughout its history. The Crusades, forced conversions, and religious persecution all stemmed from believers who confused political power with spiritual authority. These dark chapters remind us that good intentions without humility can lead to terrible outcomes.
Our current cultural moment presents similar dangers. When Christians align themselves too closely with political movements that prioritize winning over wisdom, we risk repeating these errors. The goal should never be domination but transformation—hearts changed through the power of the Gospel, not policies enforced through coercion.
This does not mean withdrawal from public life. To the contrary, Christians should engage vigorously in civic affairs, bringing their values to every debate and decision. But this engagement must be characterized by the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
As we navigate our role in an increasingly secular society, we must remember that our ultimate citizenship is in heaven. Our primary mission is not to seize temporal power but to proclaim eternal truth. When we keep this perspective, we can engage in cultural battles without losing our souls in the process.
The path forward requires discernment, humility, and a willingness to serve rather than dominate. It means speaking truth boldly while living it out faithfully. It means offering our best thinking and our deepest convictions while acknowledging the limits of our knowledge and the sovereignty of God over all outcomes.

Frank Turek Stands Firm After Witnessing Charlie Kirk Assassination
Faith Facts
- Frank Turek continues sharing the Gospel on college campuses despite the trauma of witnessing Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
- Turek credits his faith in Christ for helping him process the violence and remain committed to truth.
- The Christian apologist warns that America is engaged in a spiritual battle over reality itself.
Christian apologist Frank Turek has spoken candidly about the profound effect of watching Charlie Kirk’s assassination unfold before his eyes. The shocking act of violence has not silenced his message. Instead, it has strengthened his resolve to continue proclaiming the Gospel on university campuses across the nation.
Turek explained that his faith has been the anchor keeping him steady through the aftermath of the tragedy. He described turning to Scripture and prayer as he grappled with the reality of what he witnessed. That same faith now fuels his determination to keep engaging students with biblical truth.
“The war on reality is real, and it is spiritual,” Turek stated.
He emphasized that the same cultural forces celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk are the forces actively opposing biblical Christianity on campuses and in the public square. Turek refused to retreat in the face of such hostility, insisting that the Gospel must still be proclaimed even when the cost is high.
“I refuse to back down,” he declared.
Turek’s commitment reflects a broader pattern among Christian leaders who view current cultural battles as part of an ongoing spiritual conflict. He continues to equip believers with apologetics while urging them to stand firm in the face of increasing opposition to traditional values and religious liberty.

Court Upholds Connecticut Law Stripping Religious Vaccine Exemptions
Faith Facts
- Parents in Connecticut challenged a state law that removed religious exemptions for school vaccine requirements.
- The lawsuit was dismissed after a judge ruled the exemptions are not protected under existing religious freedom statutes.
- The decision leaves families with no legal recourse when their sincerely held beliefs conflict with state mandates.
Parents who filed suit to protect their right to decline vaccines on religious grounds saw their case dismissed by a Connecticut judge. The court ruled that the state law eliminating religious exemptions does not violate the state’s religious freedom protections.
The decision means children whose parents hold sincere religious objections to certain vaccines will still be required to receive them in order to attend public school. Families who believe vaccination conflicts with their faith now face limited options within the state.
“The plaintiffs have failed to demonstrate that the religious exemptions are protected under the state religious freedom law,” the ruling stated.
Advocates for parental rights argue the ruling prioritizes government mandates over deeply held beliefs. They warn that similar efforts to remove religious exemptions could spread to other states if left unchallenged.
Critics of the original law contend it undermines the principle that parents, not the state, hold primary responsibility for medical decisions involving their children. They say the ruling sets a troubling precedent that could erode other conscience protections.
