Christian Persecution Reaches Unprecedented Global High
Faith Facts
- 388 million Christians face high levels of persecution worldwide, according to Open Doors US.
- Nigeria remains the world’s deadliest hotspot for faith-related killings, accounting for most global Christian deaths.
- China and North Korea are aggressively restricting Christian worship and monitoring believers with advanced surveillance.
Christian persecution is expanding at a record-setting pace, with over 388 million believers now experiencing significant opposition for their faith. The annual World Watch List highlights that discrimination against Christians affects over one in seven believers worldwide, underscoring the urgent need for prayer and advocacy.
The situation is especially severe in sub-Saharan Africa, where deadly violence against followers of Christ is most concentrated. Nigeria leads in faith-related killings, with thousands of believers losing their lives solely for professing Christ.
“We’re seeing a continuation of a multi-year trend where persecution is expanding,”
said Ryan Brown, CEO of Open Doors US.
Oppression is also intensifying through government crackdowns and surveillance, particularly in China where churches are shuttered and believers face increasing state controls. In North Korea, new methods like artificial intelligence are being harnessed to identify Christians in hiding.
Despite mounting threats and government hostility, Christians around the globe are standing firm in their faith, demonstrating the Biblical call to endure trials and stand courageously for Christ. This rising tide of persecution calls for the Christian community to intercede faithfully for our brothers and sisters and to defend religious liberty wherever it is threatened.

Welsh Doctors Rally to Defend Life Values
Faith Facts
- Over 250 Welsh health professionals oppose the Terminally Ill Adults Bill.
- The Bill would legalize assisted suicide for terminally ill patients.
- Experts warn the Bill undermines patient safety and neglects proper palliative care.
Christian leaders and medical experts across Wales are taking a bold stand for the sanctity of life and compassionate care. An open letter signed by hundreds of doctors and nurses urges Senedd members to protect vulnerable patients and uphold biblical values in health policy.
According to the letter, the proposed legislation creates insufficient oversight and lacks adequate safeguards for the terminally ill.
“There is no mechanism for independent scrutiny of the assisted dying service, for appeal against panel approval or redress for distressed family members.”
The signatories, drawing on their extensive medical experience, also challenge the Bill’s definition of terminal illness, warning that mistaken diagnosis could put lives at risk.
“Accurate prognostication is impossible,” they state.
Coercion is a grave concern as well, especially since it often happens out of sight and is difficult to identify.
Many professionals highlight the dire need for well-funded palliative care, warning that the lack of resources could force despairing patients to choose assisted suicide over proper medical support.
Dr Victoria Wheatley shared, “Currently, people living in a quarter of Wales cannot access a hospice bed. This means they lack real choice. Funding a state-sponsored suicide service without first ensuring comprehensive palliative care is not the right approach for Wales.”
Dame Deirdre Hine, the former chief medical officer of Wales, cautions that passing this law could leave the most vulnerable, including the homeless and disabled, open to pressure and mistreatment.
The open letter ends firmly, calling for Senedd members to protect both patient safety and devolved independence in healthcare by rejecting this bill.
Now is the time for believers to pray and make their voices heard, championing laws that value life and honor God’s ordained roles of care and compassion in our society.

Christian Charities Urge UK Action on Sudan Crisis
Faith Facts
- Sudan faces over 1,000 days of conflict, igniting the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
- Christian charities warn that nearly 34 million Sudanese now need urgent support, with over 11 million children suffering.
- UK’s Christian leaders stress a moral call for government action to protect the vulnerable.
Christian aid organizations are rallying together, highlighting that Sudan’s prolonged violence is robbing millions of hope, safety, and access to life’s basic needs.
They stress that two-thirds of Sudan’s population now depends on humanitarian relief as hunger and disease worsen.
The coalition of 13 aid groups—including Christian Aid and World Vision—is urging the UK to demonstrate godly compassion and leadership by increasing support and diplomatic engagement.
Patrick Watt, CEO of Christian Aid, emphasized the UK’s call “to help de-escalate the crisis,” referencing Britain’s influence and duty to bring peace.
Delays and shifting government priorities have left Sudanese families vulnerable, stripping away safety nets and diminishing effective outreach.
Nearly 80% of Sudan’s medical infrastructure is crippled, denying dependable healthcare to a majority of the people, and hunger stalks over 21 million souls.
Women and children are hit the hardest, with rising violence and limited aid reaching those led by women’s groups in desperate need.
Christian organizations are inviting people of faith to unite in prayer and action, supporting those bringing hope and relief to Sudan’s suffering families.
“Sudan cannot be allowed to fade into another forgotten crisis, worse, a neglected one.”
