“The number of Christians and churches has grown hugely because people can understand the word of God in their language,” says Komi Sena, an Ifè Bible translator from Togo.
Many communities, like the Ifè people, have seen church growth after receiving translations of scripture, furthering the spread of hope and salvation.
Missiologist Lamin Sanneh observed, “There were very few places, if any, where Christian awakening had taken root where people didn’t have scriptures in the mother-tongue.”
Efforts in Bible translation now advance hand-in-hand with literacy classes, opening doors for people to not only access God’s word but transform their lives through education.
Adissa, who learned to read through these efforts, shared, “I can now read the Ifè New Testament.”
Despite these breakthroughs, dedicated believers and translation teams persevere, recognizing that many still long for the Old Testament in their native tongue.
